The Provost of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kano, Dr. Kabir Ahmad Gwarzo, has disclosed that the institution has successfully registered 6,200 eligible voters, attributing the achievement to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s directive encouraging public enlightenment on the importance of obtaining Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Dr. Gwarzo made the disclosure while addressing journalists at the college, stating that the voter registration exercise was not confined to students and staff but was extended to residents of communities surrounding the institution. He said the initiative reflects the college’s commitment to supporting civic responsibility and increasing citizens’ participation in the democratic process.
According to the Provost, the college currently operates three voter registration centres, which have continued to record impressive turnout. He noted that the exercise is in line with the vision of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to promote active participation in democracy through wider voter registration.
Dr. Gwarzo explained that the college intensified its awareness campaign after Governor Yusuf directed institutions and relevant stakeholders to educate the public on the importance of possessing voter registration cards.
He said the management remains committed to sustaining the campaign to ensure more eligible citizens are registered.
Speaking on the administration of the institution, the Provost said the college is operating under a well-coordinated management structure with the support of his team, adding that the confidence reposed in the institution by the Kano State Government has strengthened its capacity to deliver quality education and community service.
On security, Dr. Gwarzo disclosed that the college has put in place a robust security arrangement involving the Hisbah Corps and other security agencies to guarantee the safety of students, staff and visitors, thereby ensuring a peaceful academic environment.
The Provost also reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to Governor Yusuf’s education agenda, stressing that no qualified applicant would be denied access to education.
He said the college continues to provide admission opportunities for eligible candidates in line with government policy and established academic standards.
He further emphasized that the institution maintains a zero-tolerance policy against examination malpractice, warning that any student found guilty of cheating during examinations would face appropriate disciplinary measures in accordance with the college’s regulations.
Dr. Gwarzo concluded by calling on residents of Kano State to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at promoting education, civic responsibility and community development, saying collective commitment remains essential to achieving Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s vision for the sustainable development of the state.
