Sa’adatu Rimi College Establishes Anti-Drug Committee, Commends Gov. Yusuf’s Support for Inclusive Education

Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kano, has established a special committee to intensify awareness campaigns against drug abuse among students, as part of efforts to support the Kano State Government’s fight against the menace and promote a safer learning environment.

The Provost of the College, Dr. Kabir Ahmad Gwarzo, disclosed this while addressing journalists at the institution. He explained that the committee was created to organize sustained sensitization programmes, seminars and advocacy campaigns aimed at educating students on the dangers of drug abuse and its negative impact on their academic performance, health and future.

According to Dr. Gwarzo, the committee will work closely with student leaders, lecturers and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that anti-drug awareness messages reach every student across the college.

He noted that the initiative aligns with the commitment of the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, to combat drug abuse and protect young people from the devastating effects of illicit substances. He reaffirmed the college’s readiness to support all government policies and programmes geared towards safeguarding the future of the youth.

The Provost also revealed that Governor Yusuf has approved several requests submitted by the college to improve learning conditions. Among the approvals is the construction of a hostel for students living with disabilities, aimed at providing them with a more conducive environment for learning and campus life.

Dr. Gwarzo commended the governor for giving priority to the education sector, describing the administration’s interventions as a significant boost to teaching, learning and inclusive education in the state.

He further called on students, parents and members of the public to support the fight against drug abuse through continuous awareness and collective action, stressing that protecting young people from the dangers of drugs is a shared responsibility.
