The Kano State High Court has dismissed corruption charges filed against former Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Murtala Sule Garo, along with five others, citing lack of thorough investigation and absence of jurisdiction.
The presiding judge, Sanusi Ado Ma’aji, delivered the ruling at the High Court located on Miller Road in Kano, in a case marked K/133c/2024.
The case originated from a petition filed by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, which included several defendants, among them two companies.
This development comes amid speculations that the All Progressives Congress is considering Garo as a potential deputy governor of Kano State, following the resignation of Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.
Earlier, in August 2024, the Kano State Government filed fresh charges involving several high-profile figures, including former governor Abdullahi Ganduje, over alleged misappropriation of local government funds.
