Tarauni Local Government has officially launched the Abba Gida Gida Qur’an Recitation Competition, which brought together over 300 students from 53 Islamiyya schools across the area.
The Chairman of Tarauni Local Government, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Sekure, represented by the Local Government Secretary,Engr. Aminu Muhammad Malami, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting both Islamic and Western education. He noted that education remains a top priority for the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the Tarauni Local Government leadership, as they continue to promote programs that enhance the moral upbringing and intellectual growth of young people.
Engr. Aminu Muhammad Malami, expressed gratitude to the Kano State Governor for initiating the Abba Gida Gida Qur’an Recitation Competition across all 44 local governments, aimed at motivating youths to deepen their pursuit of knowledge and Qur’anic studies.
The chairman committee on Qur’anic Competition Organizing Committee also Special Adviser to chairman Tarauni LG on Religious Affairs, Mallam Safuwan Abdullah, along with the coordinator Qur’anic and Islamiyya Schools in Tarauni, Mallam Hassan A. Garba, explained that this is the first edition of the Qur’an recitation competition designed by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to encourage students to master and better understand the Qur’an. They confirmed that more than 300 students participated from various schools within Tarauni.
The Education Secretary of the Local Government, Comrade Bashir Muhammad Karkasara, emphasized the significance of Qur’anic education and the vital role communities play in improving educational development. He urged the students to remain disciplined, focused, and dedicated, especially in their pursuit of Qur’anic knowledge.
The District Head of Tarauni, Dan Lawan Kano, Alhaji Bello Ado Bayero, called on the students to take the competition as an opportunity to advance their Qur’anic knowledge, while appreciating the Governor for initiating the event.
Judges from the Kano State Board for Qur’anic and Islamiyya Schools supervised the competition and announced the first, second, and third-place winners, who were all presented with prizes.
