The Kano State Government has called on Islamic clerics to intensify efforts in fostering unity among themselves to ensure the progress of Kano and Nigeria as a whole, while also strengthening adherence to the Islamic faith.
The Commissioner I of the Kano State Sharia Commission, Gwani Muhammad Hadi Gwani Tahir, made this statement today during the opening of a three-day workshop organized for all Imams from the 44 local government areas of the state.
Gwani Tahir said the government recognizes the vital role scholars play in promoting peace and public awareness; therefore, there is a need to strengthen cooperation in order to achieve the desired goals.
In his remarks, the Commissioner II of the Commission, Sheikh Ali Dan Abba, said the purpose of organizing the workshop is to train scholars on modern methods of communication and to enhance their influence in driving development and addressing social challenges.
Sheikh Dan Abba added that the government needs strong collaboration with religious scholars, especially in promoting peace, reducing public unrest, and ensuring justice across various parts of Kano State.
Some of the Imams described the workshop as a foundation for understanding new communication strategies and improving mosque sermons.
The workshop is expected to serve as a platform for exchanging ideas and enlightenment to ensure that scholars are equipped with the necessary skills to guide the community in all aspects of life
