Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed satisfaction and appreciation over the peaceful and unanimous adoption of Honorable Abubakar Kabiru Abubakar, popularly known as Abba Bichi, as the sole candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Bichi Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Governor made this known during a grand affirmation gathering organised by political stakeholders, party executives, elders, women groups, youth associations, and supporters drawn from the eleven wards of Bichi Local Government Area. The event took place at Hagagawa Football Pitch in Bichi town amidst a large turnout of party loyalists and residents.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, Governor Yusuf described the consensus arrangement as a demonstration of political maturity, internal democracy, and commitment to party unity among APC stakeholders in the constituency.
He noted that the decision by party leaders and aspirants to set aside individual ambitions in favour of collective interest reflects a strong desire to sustain peace, strengthen the party structure, and ensure continuity in quality representation.
Governor Yusuf commended party elders, ward executives, local government leaders, and aspirants for embracing dialogue, understanding, and mutual respect throughout the consultation process.
He stated that such political discipline and consensus-building are necessary ingredients for the continued growth and stability of the APC in Kano State and beyond.
The Governor also praised Honorable Abba Bichi for what he described as remarkable contributions to grassroots development through several empowerment initiatives, youth and women support programmes, scholarship schemes, healthcare interventions, and constituency projects.
He acknowledged Abba Bichi’s infrastructural interventions across communities within Bichi Federal Constituency, including road projects, educational support, water supply initiatives, and other people-oriented programmes aimed at improving living standards.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to continue supporting leaders who demonstrate commitment to public service, sustainable development, and inclusive governance.
He further urged APC members, supporters, and political stakeholders across Kano State to maintain the current spirit of unity and cooperation in preparation for future electoral victories.
According to him, only through solidarity, discipline, and shared vision can the party consolidate its achievements and deliver more democratic dividends to the people.
Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Honorable Kabiru Masari, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, described Honorable Abba Bichi as a courageous, loyal, and outstanding leader with a strong connection to his constituents.
Masari stated that the endorsement reflects the confidence reposed in Abba Bichi by his people and party leaders, adding that his performance and accessibility have earned him broad acceptance across the constituency.
Other speakers at the gathering, including party elders and community leaders, also applauded the peaceful consensus process and called on all party members to rally behind the adopted candidate for the success of the APC in 2027.
In his response, Honorable Abubakar Kabiru Abubakar thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, party stakeholders, and the people of Bichi for the confidence and support extended to him.
He pledged to sustain and expand developmental projects across the constituency while remaining accessible and responsive to the needs of the people.
