The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, on Thursday represented the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, at the Women in Security Summit (WINSEC) 2026, organized by the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
During the event, Comrade Waiya received the WINSEC Award of Excellence on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in recognition of his Distinguished Leadership for Peace, Security and Good Governance.
Speaking after receiving the award, Waiya described the recognition as a testament to Governor Yusuf’s purposeful leadership and citizen-centred governance, noting that the administration remains committed to delivering quality service to the people of Kano State.
He expressed gratitude to the organizers on behalf of the Governor, the Government and the people of Kano State, stating that the honour would serve as renewed motivation for the administration to continue upholding integrity, excellence and accountability in public service.
Waiya congratulated Governor Yusuf on the well-deserved recognition, attributing the award to the Governor’s visionary leadership, which he said continues to inspire government officials to give their best in the service of the state.
In addition to receiving the Governor’s award, Comrade Waiya was also honoured with an Award of Excellence in Strategic Communication by NAWOJ in recognition of his outstanding contributions to public communication and information management.
He thanked the association for the dual recognition, describing the awards as both an honour and a challenge to continue promoting effective governance and strategic communication in the interest of the people.
The Commissioner concluded by giving thanks to Almighty Allah, saying all praise belongs to Him for the honour bestowed upon both Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and himself.
