The Gwale Local Government Council has confirmed the appointment of 521 teachers who worked under the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) programme before their appointment on Permanent and Pensionable basis two years back.
Delivering his address, the Chairman of Gwale Local Government, Hon. Abubakar Mu’azu, said that the confirmation of the teachers is aimed at boosting morale, enhancing job security, and ensuring effective service delivery in public primary schools.
According to the Chairman, the affected teachers have demonstrated commitment and dedication to duty since their engagement and have contributed significantly to addressing the shortage of teaching personnel in schools across the local government.
Hon. Mu’azu stated that the council remains committed to supporting policies and programmes that promote access to quality education, emphasizing that teachers play a vital role in shaping the future of society.
He further explained that the confirmation exercise is in line with the council’s determination to improve the welfare of education workers and create an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning.
The Chairman commended the support and commitment of the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf towards revitalizing the education sector, noting that the administration’s investments in infrastructure, teacher development, and educational reforms are yielding positive results.
In their separate remarks, Political leaders, stakeholders and community leaders have welcomed the development, describing it as a significant milestone that will motivate teachers and contribute to improved academic performance among pupils in public schools.
The meeting attracted the participation of prominent stakeholders from within and outside Gwale Local Government Area, including officials of the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), education administrators, community leaders, and other relevant partners in the education sector.
