The outcome of the 41st Executive Council Meeting of Kano State, held on 24th September, 2026, at the Malam Aminu Kano House, Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.
The meeting considered a wide range of issues relating to infrastructure, healthcare, education, human capital development, transportation and urban infrastructure, water supply, energy, housing, security, cultural development and other matters of public importance.
Following extensive deliberations, the State Executive Council took a number of policy decisions and granted approvals for the implementation of various projects and programmes across the State.
The approvals amounting to ₦144,005,812,319.50 were granted for the execution of various projects, programmes and other commitments of Government
The approvals granted at the council meeting, are presented below, according to sectors.
1. MINISTRY OF HEALTH
The Executive Council approved the following projects and commitments under the health sector:
General rehabilitation and provision of equipment at Shekar Barde Primary Healthcare Centre, Kumbotso — ₦348,905,275.97
Rehabilitation and upgrade of Yakasai Zumunta Clinic and Maternity to 24-hour service — ₦116,424,899.36
Renovation of Karaye Emirate Specialist Hospital — ₦272,441,506.40
Completion of Model Primary Healthcare Centre in Gwangwan Community, Rogo Local Government Area — ₦225,367,248.23

These approvals reflect the administration’s continued commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving access to quality healthcare services across Kano State.
2. MINISTRY OF LAND AND PHYSICAL PLANNING
Under the Ministry of Land, the Council approved the following:
Settlement of land dispute involving the Kano Infectious Diseases Research Centre (Pfizer Hospital), Tamburawa — ₦2,180,250,000.00
Supply and installation of traffic bollards at strategic locations within Kano Metropolis — ₦4,438,048,047.18
Installation of reflective materials on streetlights, traffic signage and other roadside infrastructure across the State — ₦4,444,744,781.25
Total Land Sector Approvals: ₦11,063,042,828.43
These interventions are expected to contribute to improved traffic management, road safety and the general appearance and functionality of public infrastructure within the State.
3. MINISTRY OF EDUCATION
The Executive Council gave extensive consideration to the education sector and approved the following projects and commitments:

The scale of these approvals demonstrates the importance attached by the administration to improving learning environments, supporting students and teachers, strengthening educational institutions and accessing available intervention funds for the development of the education sector.
4. MINISTRY OF WOMEN AFFAIRS, CHILDREN AND DISABLED
The Council approved:
Establishment and provision of equipment for the Women Skills Acquisition Centre at Kofar Ruwa — ₦368,738,500.00

The project is aimed at strengthening skills acquisition and economic empowerment opportunities for women in the State.
5. MINISTRY OF WORKS
The Ministry of Works received the largest number of approvals, covering road construction, rehabilitation, public buildings, institutional facilities and other infrastructure projects.

6. OFFICE OF THE SSG
The Executive Council, through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, approved:
Procurement of operational vehicles for the State Hisba Board — ₦435,000,000.00
7. MINISTRY OF WATER RESOURCES, ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE
The Council approved the following:
Settlement of energy bills to KEDCO and diesel fuel for the months of May, June, July and August 2026 — ₦1,778,721,470.48
Construction of reinforced concrete fencing at Katsina Road Park and development of Sokoto Road Park — ₦629,505,277.39
Total Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change Sector Approvals: ₦2,408,226,747.87
8. MINISTRY OF POWER AND RENEWABLE ENERGY
The Council approved:
Power supply at Tamburawa and Watari Water Treatment Plants — ₦635,975,656.00
Supply and installation of two generating sets and MV panels at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital — ₦610,049,500.00
Total Power Sector Approvals: ₦1,246,025,156.00
These interventions are expected to support reliable power supply to critical public infrastructure and essential services.
9. MINISTRY OF HOUSING DEVELOPMENT
The Council approved:
Construction of Amana City perimeter fence and gate, Phase II — ₦1,160,482,903.91
POLICY AND LEGISLATIVE MATTERS
In addition to the project and financial approvals, the Council considered a number of important policy and legislative matters.
Acquisition of Properties for Overriding Public Interest
Council approved the acquisition, for overriding public interest, of the following properties:
Saymays Specialist Hospital at Gandun Albasa.
A private property adjacent to the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) and Abubakar Imam Urology Centre at France Road.
Public-Private Partnership for Energy and SME Industrial Park
Council approved the implementation of the proposed Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement for the development of the Kano Energy and SME Industrial Park at the AKK Industrial Layout, Tamburawa.
The initiative is expected to provide an enabling environment for energy-related businesses and small and medium-scale enterprises.
KANFEST 2026
Council also approved the conduct of the annual Kano Art and Cultural Festival (KANFEST 2026).
The festival remains an important platform for promoting Kano’s rich cultural heritage, creative industries, tourism and the talents of its people.
2026 Supplementary Budget
Council approved the 2026 Supplementary Budget/Amendment in the sum of ₦1.201 trillion and directed that the proposed amendment be transmitted to the Kano State House of Assembly for the necessary legislative consideration and approval.
CONDITION OF EASTERN BYPASS
The Executive Council also observed the dilapidated condition of the road from Eastern Bypass–Tsamiya Babba–Larabawar Abasawa–Nera Roundabout along Ringim Road.
Council consequently directed the Ministry of Works to submit a detailed Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME) for consideration.
MERIT AWARDS TO THE GOVERNOR
The Council meeting also witnessed the presentation of various merit awards conferred on His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, in recognition of his performance in the governance of the State.
The awards were presented in recognition of the Governor’s contributions to the development of Kano State and the implementation of programmes and projects across different sectors.
