KNSG Dismisses Baseless Allegations by Buba Galadima Against Governor Abba and DSS Director

The Kano State Government has taken note of a recent interview granted by Alhaji Buba Galadima in which he made a series of reckless and unfounded allegations against the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Kano State Command, falsely accusing the government of suppressing opposition voices.
The Government states clearly and without ambiguity that these allegations are false, malicious, and politically motivated. They represent a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the Governor and to sow seeds of discord within Kano State. The Kano State Government will not allow misinformation and personal vendettas to mislead the public or undermine confidence in democratic institutions.
It is instructive to note that similar claims emerged shortly after the Governor’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This renewed outburst conveniently followed Alhaji Galadima’s removal as Chairman of the Board of Kano State Polytechnic — a decision taken strictly on administrative grounds related to performance and competence. It is therefore evident that his current media campaign is driven by bitterness, personal grievance, and loss of official privilege rather than any genuine concern for democracy or civil liberties.
The Kano State Government categorically rejects the insinuation that it has ever directed security agencies to harass or intimidate political opponents or dissenting voices. Such claims are deliberately misleading. The administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains firmly committed to the protection of fundamental rights, including freedom of expression, as guaranteed by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
However, freedom of expression does not translate into freedom to defame, incite, or spread falsehood. The law does not protect libel, slander, or deliberate misinformation capable of threatening public peace and security. No responsible government will stand by while individuals misuse social media and public platforms to damage reputations and incite unnecessary tension.
Security agencies, including the DSS, operate strictly within the ambit of the law and in accordance with their constitutional mandates. Any action taken by them is based on credible complaints and lawful procedures, not political directives. Suggestions that the Kano State Government controls or manipulates federal security institutions are false and deceptive.
The Government also notes with concern the rising trend of weaponized misinformation on social media by individuals seeking relevance or attention. Kano State remains open to constructive criticism and democratic engagement, but it will not tolerate deliberate attempts to destabilize the state through false narratives and calculated propaganda.
For the avoidance of doubt, the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains one of the most open and inclusive in the history of Kano State. Opposition figures continue to operate freely, civic engagement thrives, and the media carries out its responsibilities without hindrance. These realities stand in sharp contrast to the misleading picture painted by Alhaji Galadima.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s leadership is anchored on inclusivity, accountability, and respect for the rule of law. While constructive criticism is welcomed and encouraged, there is a clear distinction between legitimate dissent and malicious falsehood, and that line must not be crossed.
The Kano State Government therefore warns against the deliberate spread of misinformation capable of undermining public order and eroding trust in public institutions. It calls on commentators and political actors to act responsibly, verify facts, and refrain from sensational claims designed to inflame public sentiment.
The Government remains resolute in its commitment to democratic principles, the rule of law, and peaceful coexistence. It will continue to protect the rights of citizens while ensuring that such rights are exercised responsibly and within the framework of the law.
Furthermore, the Kano State Government will continue to support all security agencies operating in the state in the maintenance of law and order and will not relent in its efforts to protect the rights and dignity of all residents of Kano State.
It is public knowledge that Alhaji Buba Galadima has no significant political relevance within Yobe State politics and is not recognized as a political force to reckon with. It is therefore ironic for such an individual to attempt to pass judgment on the political popularity of a widely respected leader such as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has continued to retain strong political support across Kano State even after his defection, and this support will continue to grow steadily. He remains firmly in control of the political leadership of Kano State through democratic legitimacy and the confidence of the people.
