The Managing Director of the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Engr. Faisal Mahmud Kabir, has said that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration has brought unprecedented transformation to the transportation sector, describing the governor’s first three years in office as a period of reform, modernization, and institutional growth.
Speaking on the achievements of the administration as it marks its third anniversary, Engr. Kabir stated that KAROTA has witnessed remarkable progress under Governor Yusuf through sustained government support, strategic reforms and investments aimed at enhancing road safety and traffic management across Kano State.
According to him, the administration inherited numerous challenges within the transportation sector but has since implemented measures that have strengthened the operational capacity of KAROTA and improved service delivery.
“The story of KAROTA today is one of transformation. Through the visionary leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the agency has received unprecedented attention, enabling us to train and re-train our personnel, streamline records keeping, improve traffic control, road safety enforcement and public confidence in our operations,” Engr. Kabir said.
He noted that the governor’s commitment to building strong public institutions has provided KAROTA with the necessary backing to carry out its mandate more effectively, contributing to safer roads and a more organized transportation system.
The KAROTA Managing Director further disclosed that beyond transportation, Kano State has recorded significant achievements in Infrastructure, education, Healthcare, Environmental sanitation, Agriculture and youth empowerment under the current administration.
He particularly praised the governor’s urban renewal projects and road rehabilitation programmes, which he said have improved mobility, eased traffic congestion and facilitated economic activities within Kano metropolis and other parts of the state.
Engr. Kabir added that Governor Yusuf’s administration has demonstrated a clear understanding of the importance of transportation as a catalyst for economic growth and social development.
“An efficient transport system is essential to the growth of any modern society. Governor Yusuf recognized this from the outset and has consistently supported initiatives aimed at improving mobility, enhancing safety and promoting orderly traffic management across Kano State,” he stated.
The KAROTA boss also commended the governor’s people-oriented approach to governance, saying the administration has prioritized projects and programmes that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens.
He observes that the government’s investments in education and healthcare, coupled with its commitment to social welfare and economic empowerment, have strengthened public trust and accelerated development across the state.
Engr. Kabir described Governor Yusuf as a leader driven by vision, compassion and determination, adding that the achievements recorded within three years have laid a solid foundation for greater progress in the future.
“As Kano people reflect on the administration’s journey over the last three years, there is every reason to acknowledge the tremendous strides that have been made. The governor leadership has not only transformed institutions like KAROTA but has also repositioned Kano for sustained growth and prosperity,” he said.
