Karota poised to work in synergy with Kano Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service to secure internal boarders

The Kano Office Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service-NIS has called for synergy in intelligence information sharing with Kano State Roads Traffic Agency KAROTA for the general security of the state.

The NIS Comptroller in Kano, Tahir Ahmad Lawal made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of KAROTA, Hon Faisal Mahmud Kabir in his office.

He said as KAROTA personnel are monitoring the movement of vehicles within Kano, it will be appropriate to partner with the Nigerian Immigration Service to curb movement of illegal migrants or human trafficking by information sharing between the two organizations.

The NIS Comptroller pointed out that as Kano shares internal borders with states that migrants could use to cross into the state, KAROTA will be of immense assistance to NIS to track down such migrants.

Mr Tahir Ahmad Lawal said from January to date, the Immigration Service in Kano has repatriated about three hundred migrants whose activities were found to be not in consonance with the security goals of Kano State.

He therefore urged Karota to sensitize its personnel on this goals to achieve the desired impact.

In his response, the Managing Director of KAROTA, Hon Faisal Mahmud Kabir assured of the Agency’s readiness to collaborate with the Kano Command of the Immigration Service in that direction.

The KAROTA MD advised that his Agency and the NIS offials in Kano should fashion out strategies to achieve the set objectives.

He thanked the NIS Comptroller for the visit and urged Karota personnel to brace up for the challenge ahead.
