The Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Kano State indigenes studying at Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa, Jigawa State. The Agency has pledged to forward their requests to relevant authorities for consideration and intervention, especially on transportation challenges faced by students commuting between Kano and Jigawa.
The Managing Director of KAROTA, Hon. Faisal Mahmud Kabir, disclosed this when he received members of the Sule Lamido University Students’ Association in his office last week.
In a statement signed by KAROTA’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Ibrahim Sharada, the Managing Director urged the students to be exemplary ambassadors of Kano State, stressing that the State Government and its agencies take pride in the achievements of their youths both at home and beyond.
Hon. Faisal further revealed that KAROTA will engage the Ministry of Works to explore the possibility of providing hostel accommodation for more than 4,000 Kano State students studying at Sule Lamido University, as part of efforts to ease their accommodation burden and enhance access to education.
In his remarks, the President of the Sule Lamido University Students’ Association, Comrade Habibu Abdullahi Abubakar, stated that their visit aimed to present the association’s needs and strengthen the partnership between the students and KAROTA.
At the end of the visit, the KAROTA Managing Director appreciated the students for their thoughtful engagement and assured them of the agency’s continued support whenever the need arises.
