The Kano State Sharia Commission has launched a new Islamic calendar for the year 1448 after Hijrah, as part of efforts to make it easier for members of the public to keep track of important Islamic dates and religious activities.
The new calendar was officially launched by the Second Commissioner of the Kano State Sharia Commission, Sheikh Ali DanAbba, during an event held at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano.
Speaking during the launching ceremony, the Head of the Kano State Government House Service, Dr. Sulaiman Wali, highlighted the importance of having an accurate and accessible Islamic calendar for the people of the state.
Dr. Sulaiman Wali explained that the Islamic calendar plays an important role in helping Muslims plan and observe various religious activities, particularly those connected with fasting, pilgrimage, Zakat and other important occasions in the Islamic faith.
He noted that having a properly prepared Islamic calendar would help members of the public to easily identify the beginning and end of Islamic months, as well as other significant dates that are important to Muslims.
The Head of Government House Service further commended the Kano State Sharia Commission for the initiative, describing it as a step that would contribute to improving public awareness and understanding of Islamic dates and religious practices.
He stressed the need for relevant institutions to continue providing accurate information to the public, particularly on issues relating to religion and other matters that directly affect the daily lives of citizens.
The Kano State Sharia Commission said the launch of the 1448 AH calendar is part of its continued efforts to provide services that would benefit the people and promote a better understanding of Islamic affairs across the state.
The Commission also expressed its commitment to strengthening initiatives aimed at making religious information more accessible and useful to the people of Kano State.
