The Kano State Government has officially inaugurated a 25-member committee to supervise and monitor the distribution of relief funds to traders affected by the recent fire disaster at Singer Market.
The committee is chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Faruk Ibrahim, and is mandated to ensure transparency, accountability, and fairness in the disbursement of the assistance provided to victims of the incident.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Kano State, Abdulkarim Kabir Mode, disclosed that the committee is made up of representatives from government agencies, security services, and leaders of the affected traders. He explained that the composition was carefully selected to guarantee due process and prevent complaints in the distribution exercise.

Barista Abdulkarim Kabir Mode noted that the committee’s primary responsibility is to ensure that every trader affected by the fire disaster receives the appropriate support without favoritism or irregularities.
In his remarks, one of the leaders of the affected traders, Sabi’u Bako, commended the state government for establishing the committee, describing it as a vital step toward fairness and justice in the relief process. He expressed confidence that the committee would carry out its assignment transparently and help ease the hardship suffered by traders, while contributing to the restoration of business activities at Singer Market.
