The Kano State Government has issued a directive to security agencies to immediately arrest former Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, over allegations of inciting bandits to attack communities within the state.
The decision was reached during the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting chaired by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, where members of the council expressed deep concern over statements reportedly made by the two political leaders.
According to the council, the remarks attributed to Ganduje and Barau were capable of provoking criminal elements and emboldening bandits to launch attacks on selected communities across Kano State.
The government described the comments as irresponsible and dangerous, noting that such utterances could jeopardize ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb violent crimes and maintain stability.
Newshub24 report that Dr. Ganduje had recently criticised the security situation in Kano, accusing the current administration of failing to provide adequate protection for residents of the state.
In response, the Abba-led government stated that Ganduje’s comments were not only politically motivated but potentially harmful, insisting they could be interpreted as signals that encourage bandits to strike vulnerable communities.
The government also accused Senator Barau Jibrin of making similar inciting statements, stressing that no public office holder or political figure should make utterances that threaten public safety and social harmony.
Consequently, the state government has urged security agencies to take immediate action, adding that preserving peace and security remains a top priority and anyone found to be instigating unrest must face the law regardless of their social or political status.
