Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has called on residents to intensify prayers for peaceful coexistence and divine protection as the state confronts rising security challenges, including increasing cases of banditry.
The governor made the appeal during a special prayer session organized by the state government and held at the Open Arena of the Government House in Kano.
Governor Yusuf described prayer as “the strongest weapon against evil and those who seek to harm humanity,” stressing that collective supplication remains crucial in safeguarding the state.
He urged religious leaders across Kano to remain steadfast in leading the people in prayers aimed at restoring and preserving lasting peace.
The governor expressed deep concern over recent banditry attacks recorded in parts of the state, noting that such incidents were unusual and required divine intervention to overcome.
According to him, the government is committed to strengthening security measures, but spiritual efforts must complement physical strategies to defeat emerging threats.
In his remarks, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, also appealed to residents to strengthen their prayers for the peace, unity, and overall progress of the state.
The royal father commended the state government for organizing the session, describing it as timely, considering the prevailing security situation in some communities.
The special prayer session featured Qur’anic recitations and supplications led by prominent Islamic scholars drawn from across the state.
Participants prayed for God’s mercy, protection, and intervention to bring an end to security challenges and ensure continued stability in Kano State.
