Following the Executive Council’s deliberations on various issues of governance, some policy decisions were taken and approvals granted on the matters tabled before the Executive Council
At the meeting, the Executive Council deliberated extensively on critical issues of governance affecting various sectors of the state and consequently approved a total sum of ₦8,528,203,682.58 for the execution of key projects and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people and accelerating socio-economic development across the State.
Ministry of Land
In the area of land administration and compensation, council approved the sum of N251,909,218.00 for the payment of compensation of the properties affected by the Construction of 5Km dualized road project in Bagwai Local Government Area
Ministry of Works
The infrastructure development sector received approvals for the execution of road and drainage works. Council therefore approved the sum of N148,817,782.65 for the Construction of Orphanage Hostel at Nassarawa Children’s Home.
Equally, the meeting approved N147,246,264.47 for clearance and access road at Farin Ruwa-Yan Kwadi Village in Shanono Local Government Area.
Also council approved the construction of reinforced concrete drainage and interlocking tiles at Ayagi-Aisami, Bakin Ruwa ward in Dala LGA amounting to N660,312,147.08.
Furthermore, council approved N1,705,212,281.42 for Construction of 2-coats surface dressed road from Chiromawa to Garun Babba in Garun Malam Local Government Area
Ministry of Health
To improve access to health care services, through the provision of the welfare of health workers and security of working facilities, the council approved N187,777,114.78 for the construction of additional office complex and extension of wall fence at Primary Healthcare Board
The council also approved N677,594,206.08 for the reconstruction, rehabilitation and renovation works at Rogo General Hospital which was engulfed by fire outbreak a few weeks ago (Phase I).
Additionally, council approved N520,091,158.13 for the Procurement of brand new CT Scan Machine at Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital.
Ministry of Education
The Ministry received an approval for General renovation of GJSS Tatsawarki, in Kumbotso Local Government Area which will cost N113,830,427.84.
Ministry of Agriculture
On compensation of the affected farmlands for the construction of five (5) Small Earth Dams across 5 selected Local Government areas in the State, council approved the total sum of N830,232,588.00.
Ministry of Environment
As part of the commitment of the Kano State Government, of improving the beautification of Kano in line with the standard features of a mega city, the Council approved the sum of N176,225,669.13 for the construction of Arewa Knot and Multi-tiered Fountain at Alfurqan and Baban Gwari Roundabouts.
Ministry of Water Resources
Additionally, the council approved N3,108,954,825.00 for the supply of Non-ferrous Almunium Sulphate (Alum) for the span of six (6) Months in the year 2026
Policy Decisions
On policy matters, the Executive Council noted the report on the death of one female patient who underwent a medical surgery, at Abubakar Imam Urology Centre, during which a pair of scissors was reportedly left in the abdomen of the deceased patient.
On this therefore, Council:
a. Expressed deep dismay over the death and condemned the incident as a grave act of negligence and assured the good people of the State that the on-going investigation would be pursued to its logical conclusion, and appropriate sanction would be applied to all culpable persons or institution in line with the extant law; and
b. Extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to protecting lives, property and welfare of all citizens.
Also, council acknowledged the importance of the proposed AKK Gas Pipeline Project including the importance for the commencement of phased development of the AKK industrial Layout, Tamburawa; and approved the implementation of the projects in phases, with phase I to comprise basic infrastructure and perimeter fencing.
Council further noted:
The prevailing challenges at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Karaye, arising from some structural defects despite the State Government’s frequent interventions; and therefore approved the comprehensive enhancement of the Camp facilities to safeguard the welfare, security, and general wellbeing of the corp members serving in the State
