The Tinubu Abba Grassroots Councillors Forum, an association of councillors in Kano State, has organised a special Qur’anic recitation and prayer session seeking divine support and victory for the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, in the 2027 governorship election.
The event was held under the leadership of the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, and featured Qur’anic recitation and special prayers for the success of the governor and the continued peace and development of Kano State.
The gathering was attended by prominent Islamic scholars, Qur’anic memorizers and other members of the Muslim community, including the Sarkin Malaman Dorayi, Malam Sani Tilo, Malam Dauda Lokon Makera, as well as several other Islamic scholars and Huffaz.
During the programme, participants recited verses from the Holy Qur’an and offered special prayers, asking Allah to grant Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf success in the forthcoming 2027 election and give him the wisdom and strength to continue leading the state with justice, peace and development.
Speaking at the event, the leader of the forum, Hon. Kabiru Maraska, said the group would do everything within its capacity to ensure the success of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in the 2027 election.
He said the forum believes that prayers, unity and grassroots mobilisation remain important in supporting good governance and ensuring peaceful political participation across the state.
Hon. Kabiru Maraska further said the councillors would continue to remain close to the people at the grassroots level, particularly at the local government areas, in order to communicate government policies and programmes to the people and encourage peaceful participation in the democratic process.
On his part, the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, commended the forum for organising the Qur’anic recitation and prayer session.
Waiya said the state government was aware of individuals whom he alleged were attempting to create division between the government and the people or promote a different political agenda.
The Commissioner added that the time was approaching when the government would begin to expose those he described as engaging in such political activities.
He called on the people of Kano State to continue praying for peace, unity and stability, stressing the importance of cooperation between the government and the people in achieving sustainable development.
Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya also described the Qur’anic recitation and prayer session as an important religious gathering, particularly at a time when peace, unity and mutual understanding between leaders and citizens remain essential.
He expressed appreciation to the Islamic scholars, Qur’anic memorizers and members of the forum who attended the programme, and prayed for Allah to accept the prayers and acts of worship performed during the gathering.
The programme ended with special prayers for Kano State, with participants asking Allah to strengthen peace, security and unity across the state.
They also prayed for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to succeed in the 2027 governorship election and to be given the opportunity to continue implementing policies and programmes aimed at improving the wellbeing of the people of Kano State.
