The Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area, Hon. Lawan Najume Kabo, has commissioned the construction of the Gammo–Katafila road, measuring 6.1 kilometres, as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance the well-being of communities in the area.
Speaking during the commissioning, Hon. Lawan Najume Kabo assured residents of Gammo and neighbouring communities that work on the road would commence immediately. He explained that, in line with the agreement reached with the contractor, the project is expected to be completed within two weeks, barring any unforeseen challenges.
The Chairman noted that the road project is a critical intervention aimed at easing transportation difficulties, supporting agricultural activities, boosting commercial growth, and strengthening security across the benefiting communities.
Members of the local government’s stakeholder delegation who accompanied the Chairman commended his commitment to grassroots development, describing the project as a clear demonstration of his tireless efforts to improve the living standards of the people of Kabo Local Government.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Alhaji Sulaiman Hashimu Danmaliki expressed appreciation to the Chairman for responding to a long-standing challenge. He stated that the deplorable condition of the road had subjected residents to severe hardship, as it serves as the main route to markets, healthcare facilities, schools, and farmlands.
According to him, the poor state of the road had forced farmers to rely on donkeys to transport their produce, a situation that significantly affected productivity and livelihoods. He added that the new road would enhance security, public safety, and economic activities, as it connects communities including Gammo, Tsangayu, Gwadabe, Andi, Gwanaji, and Katafila.
Similarly, residents of Alfa village in Garo Ward applauded the Chairman for his intervention, following his commitment to replace the damaged electricity line with a new one within two days, to address the persistent power supply challenges in the community.
The projects are expected to open new opportunities for rural development, improve mobility, and strengthen security across the benefiting areas. They also reaffirm the commitment of the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to delivering sustainable grassroots development and improving the welfare of citizens from the ground up.
