The National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun the second phase of its voter registration exercise across Nigeria after officially completing the first phase on December 10, 2025.
The exercise started yesterday, Monday, with the commission giving Nigerians the opportunity to register either online or face-to-face at designated voter registration centers.
INEC initially began online voter registration on August 18, 2025, and then started in-person registration from August 25, 2025.
In the first phase, 9,891,801 people started the registration process online, of whom 2,572,054 completed their registration. Out of those, 1,503,832 completed registration online, while 1,068,222 completed it through face-to-face registration.
However, the commission reiterated that voter registration will continue to be suspended in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) due to other important electoral activities currently taking place.
