Gerawa Commends Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for Boosting Business Opportunities and Infrastructure Development in Kano

The Chairman of the Gerawa Group of Companies, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Gerawa, has stated that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has brought significant changes that have positively impacted business activities and economic development in Kano State.

Speaking with journalists, Gerawa said the policies and programs being implemented by the state government have created a more favorable environment for businesses and investors, leading to increased economic activities across the state.

According to him, companies under the Gerawa Group have benefited from the state government’s ongoing development projects, particularly in the area of infrastructure. He noted that the company was awarded contracts for the completion of several five-kilometer road projects in different parts of the state, a development he said has contributed to job creation and economic growth in the benefiting communities.

Gerawa explained that the successful execution of these projects was made possible through the strong working relationship and mutual trust between the Kano State Government and indigenous companies. He added that such collaboration is essential for driving sustainable development and strengthening the state’s economy.

He further praised the government for creating opportunities for local companies to participate in development projects, describing the approach as a major step toward promoting entrepreneurship, supporting local industries, and reducing unemployment among young people.

Commenting on the current decline in food prices in some markets, Gerawa cautioned that the situation should not necessarily be interpreted as a sign of long-term economic stability.

He explained that farmers are currently facing serious challenges, including the high cost of fertilizer, seeds, pesticides, and other farming inputs. According to him, unless adequate support is provided to farmers, the country could face difficulties in food production in the coming farming season.

Gerawa noted that much of the food currently available in markets comes from harvests produced during previous farming seasons. He warned that the full impact of rising agricultural production costs may become evident when newly harvested crops begin to enter the market.

He therefore called on governments at all levels to intensify support for farmers by ensuring the availability of fertilizer and other agricultural inputs at affordable prices. Such measures, he said, are necessary to guarantee food security and protect farmers from losses caused by rising production costs.

The Gerawa Group Chairman emphasized that agriculture remains the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, adding that any policy aimed at supporting farmers would contribute significantly to economic growth, job creation, and national food sufficiency.

He also commended the Kano State Government for its continued investment in infrastructure and public development projects, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration between government and the private sector would further accelerate economic growth and development in Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.
