Usaini Musa Dan Mukulli, Special Assistant to the former Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano State, Alhaji Musa Ungogo, has rejected the appointment of the newly inaugurated caretaker executives in the state, describing the exercise as illegitimate and inconsistent with the party’s constitution.
Dan Mukulli made this known while reacting to a press conference addressed by the ADC National Vice Chairperson for the North-West Zone, Hajiya Najatu Muhammad, at the Kano Press Centre, where she announced the dissolution of the party’s former state executives and the inauguration of a new caretaker committee.
According to him, the event was not attended by genuine members of the ADC in Kano State, arguing that those presented as caretaker executives do not have the mandate or support of the party’s recognized members in the state.
He further alleged that due process was not followed in constituting the caretaker committee, insisting that the exercise lacked legitimacy and could not be regarded as a true representation of the party’s leadership in Kano.
Dan Mukulli maintained that the leadership under Alhaji Musa Ungogo remains the authentic structure of the party in Kano State and continues to operate in accordance with the ADC constitution.
He urged party members and supporters not to be misled by the announcement, assuring them that his faction would pursue all lawful and constitutional means to protect the integrity of the party.
He also called on the national leadership of the ADC to ensure that any restructuring of the party’s leadership is carried out transparently, fairly, and in strict compliance with the party’s constitution in order to avoid deepening internal disputes.
However, the faction led by Hajiya Najatu Muhammad has maintained that the appointment of the caretaker executives followed the decision of the party’s national leadership to dissolve state executive committees across the country as part of an ongoing restructuring process.
