The football club Barau FC, alongside its head coach Eugene Agbabe, has tendered an apology to a journalist with Freedom Radio, Aminu Halilu Tudun Wada, over an incident of misconduct that occurred earlier.

This followed a reconciliation meeting held between both parties after the incident that happened two weeks ago when the journalist was interviewing the coach after an NPFL match between Barau FC and Kun Khalifat FC.

The reconciliation and apology session was facilitated by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Kano State chapter, under the leadership of its chairman, Zahradden Saleh, alongside the General Manager of Barau FC, Mr. Dominic Iorfa.

Speaking at the meeting, the General Manager of Barau FC reiterated the club’s apology and called for continued cooperation in the interest of sports development in Kano State. The head coach also accepted responsibility for his actions and assured that such an incident would not recur.

During the meeting, Mr. Dominic Iorfa announced the appointment of Aminu Halilu Tudun Wada, a staff of Freedom Radio, as the Special Assistant on Media to the head coach of Barau FC. He stated that the appointment takes immediate effect and was based on merit, as well as the need to strengthen cordial relations between the club, journalists, and SWAN as a whole.

The reconciliation meeting was attended by several journalists, sports writers from Kano State and across the country, officials of Barau FC, and other stakeholders in football development.
