KHETFUND Reviews Q3 & Q4 2025 Beneficiaries’ Performance, Disburses Over ₦2.02bn for Health Interventions in Kano
The Kano State Health Equity Fund (KHETFUND) has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in the delivery of quality healthcare services across Kano State.
This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of KHETFUND during the 2025 Third and Fourth Quarter Beneficiaries’ Performance Review Meeting held on 30th December, 2025 at Comfort Hub Hotel, Kano.
The meeting, which brought together key stakeholders in the health sector, was convened to evaluate the performance of beneficiary institutions, assess access to the Fund, and ensure effective and judicious utilization of disbursed resources in line with KHETFUND operational guidelines.
In her address, the Executive Secretary explained that KHETFUND was established to ensure sustainable healthcare financing and strengthen access to essential health services across the state. She noted that the Agency has continued to support health Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), healthcare facilities, and state-owned health training institutions, particularly throughout 2025.
According to her, the third and fourth quarters of 2025 marked a significant period for the Agency, as KHETFUND provided both financial and technical support to beneficiary institutions across the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels of healthcare.
She revealed that from January to December 2025, KHETFUND disbursed a total sum of ₦2,027,731,888.89 for 90 health interventions across the state, underscoring the Agency’s sustained commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and the overall health system in Kano State.
The Executive Secretary further disclosed that the performance review outcomes for the period were largely encouraging, with most beneficiaries demonstrating improved service utilization, enhanced financial accountability, and better compliance with KHETFUND operational guidelines.
During the period under review (Q3 and Q4, 2025), KHETFUND disbursed over ₦433 million to 24 beneficiary institutions. The interventions covered procurement of hospital equipment, renovation and construction of health infrastructure, payment of accreditation and qualifying examination fees, as well as installation of solar power systems in selected healthcare facilities.
She expressed appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner for Health for his consistent support to the Agency and thanked heads of agencies, beneficiary institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders for their commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the state.
The Executive Secretary also conveyed the Agency’s profound gratitude to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his unwavering commitment to healthcare reforms and sustainable health financing, which continues to guide the operations of KHETFUND.
The meeting concluded with a call for continued collaboration among stakeholders to ensure improved access to quality and affordable healthcare services for the people of Kano State
