Khalid Yusuf Idris of Rahma Radio and TV has emerged as the winner of the 2025 Award for Best Reporter presented by the Director-General of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), Professor Abdullahi Mustapha.
The award ceremony took place at the Los Angeles Event Center in Abuja, where several outstanding individuals and organizations were honored for their remarkable contributions to the advancement of science and agriculture in Nigeria.
Speaking shortly after the event, Professor Abdullahi Mustapha, the NABDA Director-General, said the awards were organized to recognize journalists who have been instrumental in promoting accurate information about biotechnology and modern agricultural innovations.
He noted that journalists play a vital role in enlightening the public about scientific and technological advancements, particularly in the area of agricultural biotechnology.
Professor Mustapha added that NABDA will continue to partner with media organizations to ensure that farmers and the general public have access to reliable information on biotechnology and its benefits.
In his remarks, Khalid Yusuf Idris expressed his delight over the recognition, saying the award would motivate him to remain committed to truthful and professional reporting that serves the interest of society.
He appreciated NABDA for finding him worthy of the honor and pledged to continue creating awareness on issues that promote agriculture, science, and public health.
A member of the agency, Dr. Zainab Bello, stated that NABDA intends to sustain such annual recognition to encourage individuals and organizations contributing to the development of science and technology in the country.
During the event, other media organizations were also recognized for their outstanding efforts in disseminating information related to science and agricultural development.
The ceremony was attended by government officials, scientists, and media representatives, who commended NABDA’s initiative as a step towards strengthening collaboration between researchers and the media for national growth.
