China Responds to the U.S. Over Its Threat to Nigeria.

The government of China has issued a strong warning against any attempt to interfere in Nigeria’s internal affairs, following statements by U.S. President Donald Trump threatening military action against Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Beijing “fully supports President Bola Tinubu’s government as it leads the Nigerian people on a path of progress suited to the country’s realities.”
“China, as Nigeria’s development partner, opposes any country using religion or human rights protection as an excuse to interfere in another nation’s internal affairs, impose sanctions, or threaten the use of force,” Mao said.
These remarks come amid growing international reactions to Trump’s statements, which have sparked diplomatic concern across Africa and other parts of the world.
