The Association of Bichi Teachers College, Class of 1980, has called on alumni groups to intensify efforts toward supporting one another, particularly members facing economic hardship, as a way of strengthening unity and promoting collective development.
The call was made by the association’s chairman, Alhaji Danlami Muhammad Fagge, during a reunion and fellowship meeting held on Sunday.
He emphasized that mutual support remains a core objective of alumni associations, noting that neglecting the welfare of members could hinder peace, stability, and progress within such groups.
According to Alhaji Fagge, unity and cooperation have sustained the bond among former students long after graduation.
He stressed that alumni associations are not formed merely for social gatherings, but also to provide assistance during challenging times such as unemployment, health-related issues, and other pressing personal needs.
He further urged members to increase their contributions to enable the establishment of a dedicated welfare fund aimed at supporting less-privileged members, while also extending assistance to educational and community development initiatives.
During the meeting, several members commended the leadership for its commitment to strengthening unity and solidarity within the association.
Others offered suggestions on how to expand the group’s activities, particularly by leveraging the collective experience and expertise of members to mentor and support younger students and emerging professionals.
The reunion meeting attracted alumni from different parts of the country and featured prayers for peace and prosperity, as well as deliberations on strategies to enhance the association’s impact and effectiveness in the future.
