Prof. Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa Commissions School Block, Donates 200,000 to Boost Education in Kano

The Chairman of the Gaya Polytechnic Implementation Committee and former Vice Chancellor of Northwest University Kano, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, has reaffirmed his commitment to advancing education in Kano State with the commissioning of the Alhaji Atiku Kurawa Block at Government Senior Secondary School, Abdu Naliti, and a donation of ₦200,000 to support the institution.

The event, held on July 9, 2026, attracted education stakeholders, school administrators, teachers, students, parents, and other distinguished guests who gathered to witness the official inauguration of the newly completed block, named in honour of the Kurawa family.

As part of the ceremony, Professor Kurawa commissioned the building and presented awards alongside letters of recommendation to outstanding teachers in recognition of their dedication, professionalism and outstanding contributions to academic excellence and the development of the school.

In appreciation of his immense contributions to education and public service, the management of Government Senior Secondary School, Abdu Naliti, honoured Professor Kurawa with an Award of Excellence, describing him as a steadfast supporter of educational development whose leadership and commitment continue to inspire both teachers and students.

Addressing the gathering, Professor Kurawa praised the school management and teaching staff for their unwavering commitment to nurturing future generations.

He urged students to remain disciplined, concentrate on their studies, and embrace hard work as the pathway to becoming responsible and productive leaders.

Demonstrating his continued support for quality education, Professor Kurawa announced a cash donation of ₦200,000 to assist the school in addressing some of its immediate needs and improving the learning environment for students.

He further assured the school community of his readiness to engage the Kano State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, to advocate for greater government intervention and ensure the school receives priority attention under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Speaking on behalf of the school, the management expressed profound appreciation for Professor Kurawa’s generosity, encouragement, and unwavering commitment to educational advancement, noting that his contributions would leave a lasting impact on the institution.

The event concluded with goodwill messages from parents, teachers, students and invited guests, who commended Professor Kurawa for his exemplary leadership, philanthropic gestures and sustained efforts toward promoting quality education and human capital development across Kano State.
