Troops of the Nigerian military under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued the wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, Mrs. Abubakar, following a fierce gun battle with bandits in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Military sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that the rescue operation was carried out after an intelligence-led raid under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III, launched in response to the abduction of the retired senior military officer and members of his family.
Reports indicated that troops engaged the bandits in a confrontation at Tunga village, where the attackers reportedly shot Mrs. Abubakar before fleeing due to intense military pressure.
She was given emergency medical treatment at the scene before being evacuated to a hospital for further care.
The military stated that efforts have been intensified to track down the suspects believed to be responsible for the attack and kidnappings, reaffirming its commitment to dismantling criminal hideouts across the region.
