The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to introducing improved policies and strategies aimed at supporting and boosting business activities between Nigeria and China, especially for traders who frequently travel there to purchase goods.
Nigeria’s Ambassador to China, Ambassador Abdurrahman Dambazau, made this known during a reception organized by Kano State traders to congratulate him on his appointment as Nigeria’s ambassador, while also strengthening their relationship with government authorities for smoother business operations.
According to him, the Federal Government recognizes the vital role traders play in driving the nation’s economy through job creation, tax payments, and ensuring the availability of goods in markets across the country.
Ambassador Dambazau stated that the government is working tirelessly to develop favorable policies that will reduce the challenges traders face while conducting business in China, particularly issues related to travel documentation, customs procedures, cargo shipment, and interactions with Chinese authorities.
He added that the Nigerian Embassy in China will remain open and accessible to listen to the concerns of traders and provide the necessary support to protect their interests while strengthening trade relations between both countries.
The ambassador further explained that Nigeria stands to benefit greatly from stronger trade ties with China through the importation of goods, technology exchange, and increased foreign investment.
He emphasized that the government will continue to prioritize trade and commerce as part of broader efforts to improve the country’s economy.
Speaking on behalf of the Kano traders, Alhaji Sabi’u Bako said the event was organized to celebrate the appointment of a Kano indigene as Nigeria’s ambassador to China, expressing optimism that his presence in office would help address some of the long-standing challenges traders encounter.
He noted that Kano traders play a significant role in supplying goods and contributing to economic growth, and therefore deserve greater attention and support from the government.
Alhaji Sabi’u Bako also appealed to the Federal Government and the embassy to establish direct communication channels between traders and relevant government agencies to ensure faster resolution of business-related challenges.
Some participants at the event expressed hope that the new development would further strengthen trade relations between Nigeria and China and bring relief to thousands of Nigerian traders engaged in import and export activities between the two countries.
The event was attended by prominent business leaders, heads of trade associations, and other key stakeholders from Kano State and other parts of the country.
