Public Enlightenment Movement Launches Second Phase to Showcase Major Federal Projects in Northern Nigeria
The Public Enlightenment Movement has unveiled the second phase of its awareness campaign, reaffirming its commitment to highlighting key developmental strides across Northern Nigeria. Speaking at the event, the organization welcomed stakeholders, media representatives, and citizens, noting the remarkable progress achieved during the first phase of the initiative.
In the first phase, the movement drew attention to the visible transformation taking place across the region under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Significant improvements in rail lines, road networks, pipelines, and social programs were showcased as indicators of renewed hope and economic expansion for millions of Nigerians.
The second phase now brings to light new projects and ongoing federal interventions shaping the future of the North. Among the most notable is the 1068KM by 2, totaling 2136KM, Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway. The highway will traverse Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo, Ogun, and Badagry in Lagos State, fostering trade, strengthening national unity, and opening new economic corridors.
Another landmark project is the dualization of the Sokoto–Zamfara–Zaria road, a 463KM roadway expanded to 926KM. This development is expected to significantly ease travel, boost commercial activities, and enhance connectivity among major Northern states.
Equally important is the ongoing construction of the Benue to 9th Mile, Enugu highway, totaling 500KM. This strategic link between Benue and Enugu aims to ensure smooth movement of goods and people, further integrating Northern and Eastern Nigeria for shared prosperity.
The Movement also commended President Tinubu for establishing the Ministry of Livestock Development. This initiative, they noted, will modernize livestock farming, mitigate long-standing farmer–herder conflicts, and create sustainable economic prospects for millions of families across the North.
Federal investments in agriculture, infrastructure, and community empowerment continue to rebuild livelihoods and strengthen trust in governance. According to the Movement, equitable fund allocations to Northern states demonstrate the government’s commitment to ensuring that every community benefits from national development efforts.
While acknowledging progress in security operations across the region, the Movement emphasized that maintaining peace is a collective duty. Citizens were urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to safeguard communities. The organization concluded by appreciating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support to Northern development and called on citizens to unite in fostering growth and stability.
